By default, the DNS Manager with your Windows Server should already be installed. We'll need to open it to continue.
Once the DNS Manager is open, you'l notice Forward and Reverse zones listed. We only care about the Forward Zones for this article. By default there are no zones and they must be created. With the Foward Lookup Zone Selected, we'll want to create a new Zone.
The new Zone will be our domain name.
The New Zone Wizard will now start. To Proceed, hit Next
Select Primary Zone and hit Next.
Fill in your domain name and hit next.
Create a file with this file name as the domain name.
Choose Do not allow dynamic updates
Hit Finish to Complete the Wizard
Now we can finally create our new record! With your domain selected on the left, right click on the right side of the panel and Choose New Host A Record
We'l need to create the base domain first. Make sure 'Create associated pointer (PTR) record is checked. Then fill in your IP Address. If you don't know it, you may need to refer to your Welcome Letter. Or view it in the client portal at https://portal.viviotech.net
Now you'll want to do the same thing for the www. record.
If you're wanting to host mail on the server, you'll want an MX record.
Simply add your domain as the FQDN
Now that we have a few records, we'll want to ensure that Vivio nameservers can slave the records from your server. Right click like before and choose Properties
Once properties opens, Click the nameservers tab and then remove the current domain.
Now you'll want to add both ns1.viviotech.net and hit resolve. You'll get an Warning, but that's alright. Then click OK.
You'll do the same for ns2.viviotech.net. Go ahead and hit Apply and OK.
With a domain added with a few records, and configured for VIvio nameservers to slave from your server. You're just about done.
You'll want to fill out the form here or Submit a ticket via email or the client portal to let Vivio know it's all right for Vivio Name servers to slave your domain!
